Please feel very welcome to join this ballet class geared towards professional contemporary dancers. The class will be advanced but is applicable to anyone who likes a good wiggle, all are welcome! SARA EZZELL is an American-Cypriot movement artist and choreographer based in Hannover. From 2014 to 2019, she danced with the St. Petersburg Ballet, the Stuttgart Ballet, the Bundesjugendballett and the Hamburg Ballet. During this time, she also began choreographing and premiering new works. In 2019, she represented the Hamburg Ballet at the prestigious Erik Bruhn Prize 2019, where her performance of Kristian Lever’s “An Intimate Distance” alongside Matias Oberlin was awarded the prize for best contemporary choreography. She has been working as a freelance artist since 2019, creating new works in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and initiating socio-cultural projects. Her most recent works in the field of co-creation with musicians include two collaborations with the Berliner Philharmonic as a choreographer and dancer ("Feuervogel", 2021, "Cuckoo", 2024), her role as dancer, choreographer and movement coach in the art education project '.M' in collaboration with classical pianist Daniel Bucurescu and the composer Xiao Fu (2023), and a world premiere at the Beethovenfest Bonn, “Galatea Upload” (2024) as choreographer, performer and youth movement coach. In her work, Ezzell curates movement and performance opportunities for various groups, including children, students, the elderly and refugees. She is the creator of the project “Mitreisen”, an interdisciplinary outreach project with schools in Lower Saxony in collaboration with the Istanbul-based folk music ensemble 'Seyyah' (2024).
